a bit huge, a bit weird, a bit costly, bit a very large bit AWESOME.

only comments are that I think it weird to have space 'reserved' for the Mk 10 (just choose one, damnit! :P) and that you are going to need more then one D2G for an ship this size (IIRC, the california's had 2 already)
I do not know what your beam is, but keep an eye on stability with that radar, I don't suppose it will be light ;)

Can't be any worse than Long Beach.

As a former CGN sailor, may I suggest a matched pair of Mr. & Mrs. D2G. There's not enough power for 2 shafts otherwise.

The first post have been updated and it looks like Mr. & Mrs. D2G have got child, and man they crow fast.
now she have two D2G for propulsion and one D2G for Power production but also as a top speed boost, when needed!

Originally I was thinking to go for two enlarged C1W reactors but decided that three D2G is better. Yes it's heavier (strength issue), But she need a lot of power, and thus reactors would help her with holding the center of gravity as low as possible.

On two reactors you are going to be at about 31 knots. With a set up like this (with one reactor that can be directed either toward electrical load or propulsion) I would strongly suggest that you make her Nuclear-Electric, as it could improve the propulsive efficiency by not inducing a further steam capacity difference between cruise and maximum loads on propulsive turbines (by removing propulsive turbines from the equation). That is, if you have a 50% over capacity in the propulsive turbines, that's going to decrease the efficiency of said turbines when running at cruising speed more than the losses of moving to a Turbo-Electric drive.

This also allows you to do such things as power a city in the event of a disaster, and split the output of one reactor to both screws more efficiently. It also means that you can, if needed, replace the engine system without gutting quite so much of the ship, and also means that you stand a good chance of being able to go full speed in reverse.

Edit: As a minor note, the third reactor, when mostly dedicated to propulsion, only buys you ~ 3 knots of extra speed. I'm not sure the added mass and volume is worth it.

Need some brain kick start! I WANT TO DO A NEVER BUILD VERSION OF THIS MONSTER!!!!

I am thinking about a vessel that have a more conventional radars and perhaps engine. With a bigger weapon load/system. That are a tad slower than this one (weapon load over speed, Principe).

So the kick help i need is (either):

- Drawings/pictures that I can use as a inspiration.
- Idea suggestion of what I can do.
- A never where suggestion.
- OH COME ONE, don't tell me you forgot you'r "Balls" in the bed with you girl/wife/dream! Or if you are a girl: "Release the boy and come over her and write something totally stupid, because there can be something in the madness and all that stupidity!!!

pick up an Alaska class cruiser as basis and build a double end nuclear version of it.
but please don't go to battleship because i'm planning something crazy for Montana (and another personal design)

I don't know what you mean. It's got two Mk 10s (or at least two Typhon-compatible launchers) and two Mk 13s.
