My first French merchant ship, the SS Kersaint was built for the South America service, but later was converted to mixed passengers and cargo ship and renames Cap Varella, for the Indo-China service. She was converted so that she could also carry troops . Captured by the Japanese she was sunk by the American submarine USS Finback on May 7 1945

The SS Kersaint sister ship, the SS Jouffroy D'Abbans, built in 1923 was converted in 1925 into a mixed passengers and cargo ship, and renamed Cap Tourane



The ship as such survived WW2 and was finally demolished in 1953 in the Netherlands.

A fine vessel there Novice. One of the many smaller vessels often lost in the shadow of their Atlantic cousins.

French specialist cruise operator Companie des Iles du Ponant is the owner of the 3,500gt Le Levant. This small vessel with sleek lines was delivered in November 1998 from Alsthom Leroux Naval in France. carrying just 90 guests in 45 oceanview cabins, and a dedicated crew of 50, cruising aboard Le Levant is like sailing with friends!

This is the Finlandian tanker Wirakel builded on 1953
