Ok so here is a pre-aegis, pre-VLS long beach that I modified of the original.
The story behind. It is that Reagan brought the long beach I to refit so that it could be in his surface action groups. It is armed with;
1 8 inch MK.71 gun
3 Mk. 26 SM-1 launchers for both SM-1 and ASROC
6 Tomahawk ABLs
2 Harpoon launchers
1 Sea Sparrow Mk. 29 launcher
3 Phalanx Mounts

2 questions.
Why all the unnesessery space below the bridge?
And what is that square under the hull? I don't think it will go very fast with a big square under it's hull :)

That's the radar and the sonar respectively

Also why can't this be merged with your other Long beach thing?

Needs a 3D air search set... Try A/N SPS-48.

You can't just stick Mk 26 wherever you feel like. Same for the 8/55. Both require massive open spaces directly beneath the mount, spaces which are not present in any of the locations currently required (the only exception being the #2 Mk 26).

Such amount of firepower with only three directors and 2-D air search radar... not that sensible.

God knows why NSSM is present.

That amount of ABL would not be good from a stability point of view.

Harpoons are... hovering. But they can be launched from Mk 26 anyway.

I cannot merge this with my other LB page because this is not a real design. I did not know those facts about the Mk. 26. Could I put it into the present 8 inch position and the 8 inch into the ABL area and replace the harpoons with 2 ABLs?

No. As I just said, both 8/55 and Mk 26 require large open spaces below decks. Trading one non-existent open space for another non-existent open space is not really an improvement.

8/55 right above the engine room is, if anything, even less possible.

Where do you recommend I put the 8 inch. And there was a terrier missile where I proposed to put the other Mk. 26. Wouldn't it still work? For both the MK. 26 and the 8 inch?

You won't put an 8/55 anywhere, because you don't tack major caliber weapons onto a missile ship in a 'refit'. You won't have any Mk 26 except the one(s) directly on top of the old Terrier magazine(s), because anything else would be more expensive than building a new ship.
