Caproni Ca.135

Designed in 1934 to an Italian medium bomber requirement, the prototype Ca.135 first flew in April 1935.



In 1936 Italy ordered 14 aircraft as the "Spanish type", but they were never used in the Spanish Civil War. Initially sent to bomber squadrons, the aircraft were found to be underpowered and were rapidly demoted instead to flying schools. Attempts were made to change the engines for more powerful radial engines, and this eventually led to the larger, more powerful Ca.135bis model. With their preference for 3-engined bombers this improved type didn't see Italian service, but instead became an export model for Hungary.
In 1936 Peru ordered a modified version of the Ca.135 as the "Peruvian type", with a differing very "un-Italian" defensive turret arangement, including a retractible dust-bin turret. The aircraft were used successfully against Ecuador in the war of 1941, but by 1942 appear to have disappeared. Rumor is that the US made their destruction a condition of lend-lease military assistance to Peru.

Hi, gentlemen. Good evening.

After some months (at a snail pace), and thanks to the aid of Eswube with the shadings and many other refinements, here are some South and Central American Cessna Dragonflies, displaying the most representative cammo schemes.



Unfortunatelly I was unable to find a good side pic of the Colombian A-37 with guided armament (equiped with gps guided Spice glide bombs, this was the most sophisticated version of the well tried Dragonfly). Cheers.

Ryan PT-22 Recruit

The ultimate, and most produced, version of Ryan's ST Sport Trainer.



Initially designed in 1934 as an alclad light aircraft, reliability issues with the original Menasco engines eventually led to the use of a Kinner 5-cylinder radial in a version for the US military as an initial trainer. With the original flat fuselage reworked to accept the new round engine the aircraft became the ST-3KR, and in military service the PT-22 Recruit.
As a basic aircraft with no vices it performed extremely well, and eventually more than 1000 were built. Large numbers are still in operation as private warbirds, with the most notable recent incident being the forced landing of actor Harrison Ford in an otherwise immaculate aircraft following an engine failure in 2015.
