Shipbucket

Once again trying my hands at a fictional design for a victorious Germany after WW1. A light cruiser around 6000-7000t displacement, armed with 4x2x150mm, 4x1x88mm Flak, 4x2x20mm FlaMG and 4x2x600mm torpedooes. It's supposed to be a trader-of-all-master-of-none cruiser for all kinds of mission, from fleet escort, to overseas representations. It's still a work-in-porgress, seeing as my last attempts didn't go so well.

A very nice looking cruiser and well drawn.
The rear hull does look slightly odd however with that much slope, but I guess it would account for the large bilge keels!

Kolossal, as Willie would have said. The bilge keel looks somewhat weird, apart from this the drawing is very well executed. The design is not overloaded, fits the period - unlike many AU designs seen here which are often 10 - 20 years ahead of their time - has growth potential for more flak and is pleasing to the eye too.

One question, though - maybe I'm ignorant, but what are these antennas on the charthouse and on the masts?

Looks great, and fits the period in German ships design, though I think the turrets look somewhat too modern.
I also join Hood's question about the slope aft on the hull. Maybe a third propeller and skeg for it will do a more aesthetic look?

I think a skeg aft would border on the necessary for structural soundness. Of course German heavy units had a habit of letting their stern fall off after sustaining damage in battle, so perhaps DG_Alpha is to be commended for drawing a historically reasonable personal design

I find myself wondering what a victorious Germany in WW1 would seek to achieve with her fleet post-war, especially in a more positive financial environment. Perhaps ever more effort on medium-weight diesels for outstanding cruising radius?

The hull shape is a cross between the Emden and Königsberg, but maybe I need to work on the details.
The turrets are once again based on the Königsberg-class. I figured that without economic crisis, Versailles oversight and occupation, a turret like this might come a few years earlier.
Although maybe a bit of unrealistic - they are meant to be some sort of (proto-)radar, based on the works of Hülsmeyer and Scherl prior and during World War One.
