How on earth do you support a population the size of Germany on one third the area known for ice and earthquakes and not much else?
And where did they come from anyway? 80,000 people is more than 10% of the entire population of Scandinavia at the time.

That'll be really useful in the 1970ies when the oil crisis forces the oil prices up to a level where it becomes profitable to develop artic oil fields. Until then you're stuck with a whole lot of nothing to eat.

They will still have income from coal and steel as well as the small amount of oil being drilled.

That still leaves about 1000 years of no food. There simply isn't any way to support such a large population out there without modern technology and even then I suspect you'll be almost entirely reliant on food imports.
