Hi Heuhen. Very well done designs (Version 5 is a nicely well balanced ship, really!). May I ask two questions? The Fletcher based Oslo was far more expensive than the actual ship, and if the answer is affirmative, was a fleet of only 4 vessels better suited for the tasks of the RNN? The other question is how and when is the shift of the normal to the combat screws? Thanks a lot.

The original build plan for RNoN was 4 Oslo class frigates and 4-5 Sleipner class corvette. But in the end Norway dropped 2 Sleipner class for 1 more frigate, manpower during that time periode wasn't a problem. Norway had before the frigates 4-5 destroyers and 4-5 destroyer-escort.

With a Fletcher hull and that US government was covering 50% of the build cost... Norway would end up with 5 vessel and perhaps only 1-2 Sleipner class corvette perhaps. Due to an designe change on Sleipner class, they become quit bad sea boat after Norwegian standards.

The change from Normal to the more silent and better performing combat propeller's would be done in dry dock. We had them build inside a mountain....

Economy wasn't a very big problem in the late 60's, Norwegian was swimming in money compared to today.

During. 64-68 Norway build:
-5 frigates
-2 Corvettes
- 25 high speed missile and cannon boats
- 15 submarines
- and other surface ships
Totall - more than 55 vessels

yup. Today with the modern frigates, they had to blow of the mountain top. Nansen class are a bit higher.

... BTW. Norway are planing to build a tunnel for large commercial vesseø here in Norway, so they don't need to travel along one of the most dangerous place in Norway.

This Oslo was very nice, do you plan to draw original long hull Sleipner as well?

I have a couple more variant that I can post very soon, I just have to finish them and make sure they hold some quality over them.

Variant's are:

Sleipner class long hull, as written down on paper, never managed to get to the final design stage for the Navy, so that one would be mostly my personal opinion on how she might look like.

Another Oslo class variant, but this time it is me speculating on how it might have looked like, if Horten Naval shipyard had designed the ship from ground up, by the same design team that dead Oslo class. (basically, it looks like Oslo class, with small variables here and there, making it look like a totally different ship and perhaps more modern)

Artist update and adjustment on Oslo class (Fletcher variant).
