That's as good looking as a stealth fighter will get! The detail work is really great, all those zig zag panel lines must have been time consuming but the effect really is stunning.

Ta much for the kind words!

It was quite tedious at points trying to get them to not interfere with shading and the like.

As promised a whiff!

Goodbye Adir, hello Zamir! Something along the lines of undercutting LM on price as well as offering tech transfer and integration to the Israelis. :?

Hi Blackbuck,

Firstly, that's a very nice looking aircraft! However, as ever, I have a query - on the Ishtar, the max sustainable speed is higher than the max speed (by almost 300km/h) ... have I read that wrong or misunderstood? I'd thought max sustainable speed would be a supercruise (for this aircraft) whereas max speed would be a full-on afterburners, getting out to push, etc, etc, etc affair...?

Regards,
Ad

That's just a typo :P I'd never updated the blurb properly (silly me)

Not completely AU as both aircraft were actually proposals back in the day.

The Tornado-J / Super Tornado consists of an ADV airframe with IDS systems. This to my mind has the following impacts:

More fuel from the plug and fin tank translating to a larger combat radius

Better clearances on the shoulder pylons lengthwise for multiple carriage of longer stores

Retention of Krüger flaps and thrust-reversers for short-field performance

FLIR and LRMTS as GR.4

Eurojet EJ200 as mused upon in the early 90s partly due to the shift from <100ft penetration missions to medium and high level interdiction

Replacement of Texas Instruments radar suite with a non-US system in the form of Blue Vixen (a 1990 proposal) moving TA/TF to passive systems (This would be supplanted during SLEP by CAPTOR-E)
Update wise...

Somewhere along the line the retirement of Sky Shadow and induction of an internal EL/L-8222 necessitating removing one of the BK-27s (No ADV avionics, ergo two BK-27s retained)

Introduction of Thales NAVFLIR on port side inboard pylon

Addition of internal SATCOM and ROVER capabilities for better GCAS capacity during OEF

Continual TERPROM and INS/GPS upgrades to maintain low level capability

Integration of a latent ability to use Skyflash (shoulder and inboard wing pylons) allowing the possibility of limited air-defence tasking during a time of war

Continual program of RCS reduction (leading edges, intakes etc)

CAPTOR-E from 2015 until OSD of 2030

Gradual increase in commonality with Eurofighter pending Tranche 3A buy in 2015

Improvements to FADEC on EJ200s and modified HOTAS
The Super Jaguar / Big-Wing Jaguar would differ from the existing Jaguar in a number of respects such as:

A larger composite-construction wing with six hard-points and two wing-tip rails whilst retaining the wing fence AAM ones (shape wise this seems to share quite a lot with the Mirage F1)

A development of the Adour slightly larger and substantially more powerful giving better performance throughout the flight envelope especially during take-off.

Substituting the ADEN for BK-27s for commonality with the Tornado fleet (an initiative of my own, not the actual Super Jaguar proposal)
Updates...

Thales NAVFLIR either under or over the nose

An internal EL/L-8222 necessitating removing one of the BK-27s as on the Tornado

Continual TERPROM and INS/GPS upgrades to maintain low level capability

Integration of a latent ability (Due to Blue Vixen on some aircraft) to use Skyflash allowing the possibility of limited air-defence tasking during a time of war

Continual program of RCS reduction (leading edges, intakes etc)

FBW, HOTAS and FADEC implementation
ETA: Added TIIIA Tiffies, complete with LEX and other bits and pieces including some stuff missing from the current archive drawing (could do with updating).

Excellent work Blackbuck.
Both of those proposals are very interesting and I'd agree with all your points in the upgrades.
I'm not sure, but I'm guessing the Blue Vixen would have been smaller/lighter than both the Texas Instruments IDS set and the AI.24 of the ADV too.

The colour schemes look great, I especially like the canopy shading too.
