Hi, thank you all for the kind comments!

After some great input I received from fellow shipbucketer Weismann, I will have to do some changes to the camouflage-stripes!
I will update my drawings as soon as possible!

@jabba:
I suppose it depens on the opacitiy of the used colours. My references did show the stripes that way, but I will make some fixes to this version.

@acelanceloet:
The purpose of the colour changes to the the barrels is not clear to me. I do believe it was done for aerial recognition purposes, as the turret tops were painted dark grey,too.

@WWII44:
"Prinz Eugen" had her turret tops' painted red - "Bismarcks'" were probably painted dark grey.

@KimWolf:
Thank you - My father once told me, that when he was a kid, some of the "Bismarck" survivors used to meet in a pub in my hometown. I was always thrilled about this... :-)
I will probably do "Tirpitz" in the near furture and I think this is a very interesting camo. She carried it during her fitting out in 1939, yet clear pictures of it are hard / impossible to find...

Cheers!

That's a pretty awesome camo scheme.

I go away for a week, and come home to find this amazing artwork! What a wonderful surprise after the week I've had! Thank you, my friend!

Oh, by the way, if You do the Tirpitz, will you also include this very special Camouflage?

The last picture depicts how "Bismarck" probably looked during the Battle of the Denmark Strait and during her own last stand against superior British forces.

I believe Maomatic referenced drawings taken from http://www.bismarck-class.dk, which is run by a good friend of mine who has actually BEEN DOWN TO the Bismarck wreck (he was with James Cameron for "Expedition: Bismarck"), and has written several books on the Kriegsmarine, including a very thorough one on Bismarck herself just recently. If these are the drawings he went by, they're probably as correct as they're going to get.

I absolutely agree, Matt. Johnny Asmussen's word on all things Bismarck is pretty much the gospel truth.
