Haha, I love it the most when they start listing this statistic. I just can't help but think, yeah, let's send our entire population into the meat grinder and ask France how well that worked (not at you, just a completely random musing).

These numbers are calculated using real Hellas as base, adapted to larger population and higher birth rate (I took statistic numbers from early 1980's). The "available for military service population" is a theoretic number. In Balkan Wars, real Hellas with roughly 6 millions of population managed to create an Army of about 370,000 men. Hellenic Kingdom today if needed, perhaps could raise about 80-90,000 more. It depends of equipment and money available.

And concerning the "meat grinder", it has to be a domestic design.

Let's not forget Finland, which, with an estimated population of 3,5 million, in 1939, managed to field an army some 560,000 strong!

Generally it's assumed that in peacetime active strength of the armed forces shouldn't exceed around 1% of population (though some countries managed to keep that ratio higher), and during wartime - at least protracted - shouldn't exceed 10%. Anything below - assuming that country has enough resources to arm, clothe and fed these people, not mentioning organization - is a fair game.

That's not what I was referring to, but my comment was more than edging into politics anyway.

For completing my Armed Forces, I need to find some notes I have to edit.

And something else now, revisiting my CLG Elli (After 1970-1971 modernization)

-GMLS Mk4 (like Giuseppe Garibaldi had)
-2 X twin EPK 6" guns (recycled from older ships)

[ img ]

1963 configuration is the SPS-26/SPS-6 radars, minus the SSM Adis I.

Please mate, let us see the underwater hull as well. These designs are great but with the underwater details they would be OUTSTANDING!!!!

The underwater hull is identical with that of Giuseppe Garibaldi but red. Absolutely NO changes except for the color. What about armament and radars? What communication antennas to use? Auxiliary boats? Latter must be a late 1950's-early 1960's design, of US origin or any other equivalent.
