When I see that the Brahmos SSM style (mach 2,8) will be the "world-rule" in the next 5 years (late 2010s).
And event the Brahmos-II style (mach 5/7) will be "the rule" by late 2020s.
It is obvious that the hypersonic+++ missiles (mach 7/10) will become "the rule" in the 2030s

I tried to reply earlier. But it didnt go through, Stupid CANES.

Anyway, The cannister launchers will remain viable due to real estate in teh VLS system. If you have 32 cells with a typical load out of lets say, 10 ASROC, 16 SSM, 4x4 ESSM and 2x4 NULKA, you lose significant capability by swapping out those for ASM.

If you have VLS launched ASM, then the yshould consider Cannister launched ASROC. Eitehr way the cannisters bolster VLS so you can maximize combat effectiveness by having the right mix of weapons at the right time.

The ESSM has a speed of Mach 4+, that is practically hypersonic, and it can do high-G manouvers. When fired directly at even a Mach 7+ missile, speed won`t matter as the two missiles are heading directly towards each other.

Edit: I did some changes to the design, mostly for aesthetic reasons. The bridge has been completely redesigned. The seperation of the hull and superstructure has been moved up to the same height as the helo deck. As a consequence, I had to heighten the hangar and the semi-deck where the Mk-141 canisters are mounted. I also lowered the laser CIWS.

You could replace Harpoon with VLS launched LRASM. Since this is a fictional ship, you could also give the now-cancelled LRASM-B supersonic missile a try.

LRASM is identical to JASDM save for a booster, so if that's drawn you've got LRASM.

The FMLAC looks like a good candidate for an affordable frigate. It had some growth potential too.

The booster of LRASM is the same booster for ASROC, so you could use it.
