Hi guys
Some variations on a theme. I tried to use new weapons. Being escorts i expected they would operate in small numbers or singly so must have some means of defending against all threats. I nicked sebu's masts instead of hull mounted aegis types and rotating arrays.

I suspect some stability issues here ;)

Much scepticism has been arisen.

no. the main problem is the size of your missile systems, and the fact that the ASM's are placed on top of the main deck, instead of below them.

Added to which twin arm launchers are vastly outdated on something as LO concerned as these.

A little background of the where they're from and how far out they have to do their duties would help in pinning down some particulars IMO. For instance my Deity class command/escort cruisers are simply re-tasked destroyers with extra CIC and flag facilities. They're expected to either operate as flotilla leaders or singularly in the anti narco/piracy role for months at a time and they're considerably smaller than the three drawings you've presented. I think if you went to a vertical launch arrangement and looked at AShMs that aren't the size of a jumbo jet you could be onto something much better.
If it helps I did a re-draw of my fictitious VLS system not long ago. Might give you some ideas for size etc. Feel free to use the actual stuff too if you wish.

They are from a new AU. The intention is to escort to far flung trade partners, all weapons shipments are to be escorted. No smaller units are expected to engaged in escorting. I used launchers due to the length of the ER AAM's (and to avoid boring VL flats). All AAMs's are active seeker, hence no illuminators. The idea was a common hull, and magazine space.

the deck penetration required by an launcher and an VLS are about the same (check the Mk 26 and the Mk 41 in comparision). storing horizontal is possible of course, but limits the amount of missiles you can take.
your escort ships all have missiles the size of soviet anti-carrier missiles and larger?

Back to guns
[ img ]

4 twin 6"/70 smooth bores firing proximity, homing and guided shells. The mounts have the dual feed reduced to single feed only with several ready rounds each per gun. Secondary is 4 twin 3"/60 and tertiary 4 twin 30mm.
