Excellent work. As coincidence happens I have open in front of me a picture of what Jane's describes as a R-330P (assuming that's Cyrillic that would be R-330R) on an MT-LBu in Afghanistan. It looks very similar to your R-330B but has another low-box on the hull top alongside the bigger box vent on the roof and with the whip aerial located behind it. There is no kit stowed on the hull sides, but tubes etc. along the hull roof edge. The generator on the rear has a distinctive sideways facing circular vent on the right side.
So my question is, is the R-330P (or R) a mistaken late-80s misidentification of the R-330B and does the vehicle in the Jane's Soviet Intelligence Review photo represent an earlier production model?

Interresting dear Hood. Sent me the picture, please!

R-330P (Р-330П) had a very distinctive long box on the left side and the roof is rather slick.
I don't know any R variant (Р-330Р ?). I didn't think it exist but I learn something every day you know.

The roof top arrangement on R-330B (Р-330Б) can vary following period and user, the metal frames are from local manufacture probably to manage the "sun rays" antena when folded.
I choose a fielded model in russian hand near 2009 to avoid ambiguity.

Caddaric79, I haven't got a scanner but the close-up photo has enabled me to kitbash your R-330B into the R-330P or whatever it really is (I suspect its a R-300B and the designation is an incorrect NATO designation). There are numerous changes to the layout but it seems essentially to be the same equipment.
