Welcome cvbbdd, your cruiser is a nice start but the main guns look a bit big for the ship so I would maybe switch to 6inch. instead and I would add some 5 or 3 inch secondaries as well. The image is resized as well but its looking good so far. Don't be discouraged about the patrol destroyer, but its just not gonna work I hate to tell you as others have mentioned in this thread. And, while the technical aspects aren't my forte, there is no way it won't be too heavy for the ship. Moreover if a destroyer is attacked by a cruiser its only hope is to either run or use torpedos I believe, and I don't think a single slow firing gun will help it very much. I'm looking forward to more drawings.

BBE escort battleships are perfect for protecting convoy from merchant raiders
two BBEs could go up against the Graf Spee
Rhode island is slightly slower but her 16in guns can punch through or severely damage the Graf Spee
If they wait for the Spee to start firing the 16s can hammer Spee as she flees.

BBEs are named for small or proposed states and regions

ships in class: Kearsarge, Muskogee, Pembina, Absaroka, Westsylvania, Appalachia

Do you even know that the turret with the guns weigh as much as the destroyer it self?

that BBE is too short to have much machinery, and thus won't be fast. also, to fit these weapons, your ship will have to have so much beam that it looks like this:
