It's a well-executed drawing, but I can't claim that the design makes any sense whatsoever.

Let's put it this way, it's a very good looking cruiser design but the problem is Mk. 42 and Mk. 10 are already obsolete by late 1970s (I can understand why Mk. 10 is there though) Perhaps go for the 8 in Mk. 71? Also, why would they build such a large cruiser at that time without SPY-1?

I'm starting from almost scratch.

The main objective is an AAW Escort (super) cruiser with speed capability to follow any vessel it's have to escort, She should be an vessel that can take care of here self if she need to be traveling alone. It would of course have capacity in ASW and ASuW

I put it up now because:

- Where can I reduce where can I increase?
- How should the armament be placed for best use.
- shall I move the aft VLS to between both reactors, and move the aft reactor, hangar and helodeck more aft and create and large helo deck.
- Other ideas... she feel a bit tall for me
- replace the forward 76mm with CIWS

The basic silhuette looks familiar, but I can`t quite name the ship.

  • The 76mm mount was a one-off in the USN. It was used on only two classes of ship, and replaced a 35mm twin on one of them. I strongly doubt that you'd see something like it on a ship this size.
  • Every USN design that could went for the faces angled to the fore-aft-port-starboard SPY-1 configuration you have here. The Ticonderoga configuration was driven by the use of the existing structure on the Spruances.
  • To that end, I suggest looking at CGBL as a base for the layout, not the Ticonderoga.

Seems like a cross between a Ticonderoga and Erik_t missile battleship/cruiser.

Then my part-sheet must have flipped it at some point!

I did go for Tico... due to easy some of the work. but as TimothyC suggest I should go for the CGBL look.

For the Erik_t Battleship feel... well I was inspired by him. first I though that such ship need an escort but then I realized why not try to make an more compact version of that on exsisting technology, as perhaps an follow up design. or just an stand alone design...

Whit the drawing bellow as the base line, but just much bigger.

[ img ]

- My CGN going to have two Mk-41 VLS on the for-deck.
- SPY-1 etc.

but my mine question is that shall I go for and large hello deck that I have gone on the previuse WIP or shall I have just an standard size hello deck with medium helicopter, and have an Mk-41 VLS on the aft deck, perhaps two VLS aft. (one full size one small)?
Shall I have an superstructure between the two superstructure or shall I just drop it. It will be an open area due to those two reactors.

edit: BTW I have just did an copy and past from the CGBL to my drawing... look up to see the update in my previous post!
