Real Life Challenge

The next challenge is here. This time everything changes and we are drawing Real life ships. All categories are accepted. Specific requirements as follows:

Requirements:

- Ship, boat or other predominately waterborne vehicle
- Has existed in the known universe in material form
- Shipbucket scale and style
- Any time frame

Purpose of this challenge is to change the course of our artists main interest back to the original purpose of Shipbucket, of why it was begun in first Place and why some of us have invested considerable monetary sums to make up a great archive for our drawings.

Length of challenge & judging categories:

This challenge will run until 23:59:59 UTC May 31.

Drawings will be scored via Google Forms poll, with three categories that will be totaled to determine the winner. The poll will close 23:59:59 UTC on June 10. Categories are as follows, with 10 points available in each:

- Adherence to SB style - does your drawing follow the SB style rules as defined in the Style Guide? Is it readily recognizable as a Shipbucket drawing?
- Drawing quality - how well executed is your drawing? Is it super detailed, or does it have large blank spaces that draw the eye? Does it use the most current and accurate SB components? Does it use the best and most realistic color scheme? Is it shaded correctly and is the shading consistent?
- Accuracy - Does it correspond to reality? How well have you turned steel (or wood) into pixels? How well researched is your reference work?

The poll will not allow commentary. Reviewers are encouraged to leave a post in this thread once polling begins with their commentary for each drawing.

Can the drawing be a ship/vessel that already appears in the archive?

Either a redraw of a later/earlier version of a drawing that exists, or a complete redraw of one of the early gif drawings that still exist in the archive?

You can redraw ships, (natural courtesy in this regard applies thought, you should aim redrawing energy to those work that is obsolete by style or errorneous)
No kitbashing of existing drawing into something else.

Is allowed a ship under construction?

Id rather keep this strictly for things that exists in reality, unless you want for some reason draw ship in the construction state. If we allow drawings based on the renditions or future plans, it wouldnt be logical to outclude newer-weres and their kind. In future we can have never-were/nearly-were/to-be type of challenge

Yugumo class destroyer, Kazagumo

The Yūgumos were the final class of standard Japanese destroyers and were mostly a repeat of the previous Kagero class with the most notable difference being the more aerodynamic forward superstructure. The class would be built from 1940 to 1944 with a total of 19 members, none of which would survive World War 2.

Vessels refitted and constructed from 1943 would receive a second and third set of 25mm AA guns around the forward torpedo mount and in front of the bridge. Additionally the forward mast would be modified to carry the Type 22 surface search radar. Some vessels were also given the Type 13 air search radar set.

Type 1934A Class destroyers

The Type 1934A Class was a continuation of the previous type 1934 class destroyers, with minor modifications such as a redesigned bow to improve seakeeping. This particular destroyer Z16 Friedrich Eckoldt, was commissioned 28th of July 1938, much like the rest of her sister's she would have a very unremarkable if short career, being sunk in 1942 by the British Cruiser HMS Sheffield after misidentifying it as a German Cruiser and sailing to Almost point-blank range.

On a little bit of a side note I would have liked to have done more members of the class, but unfortunately due to little to no photographic documentation of the ships I am unable to do so unfortunately.

Well done everyone so far! I hope nobody has the same Idea I had...

@armoured man: There's a lot of reasonably accurate line drawings of German destroyers in Groener's book on German Warships since 1848 (volume 2). So many in fact I have always shrunk away from the 50+ drawings needed to represent all the ships and their various refits. If you seriously want to tackle them, I could dig out my ancient scanner and see what I can do.

Unless anyone already has scans from Groener's book (hint, hint)
