best way to build something, it make it cheaper to build.

The downside is that unless you can maintain mass production for an extended period of time (such as the US can), you run into the issue of having to rebuild the industrial base. The alternate approach is the French one, where you build at a rate that maintains production constantly, but with much higher unit costs.
