Had you thought about making the wings/body a contrast colour? A light green/yellow/gold to really make them stand out.

Also makes them easier to see when they crash ;)

That could be a nice touch-up, but I actually wanted them to be all-green with the only colour contrast beign the airline name and orange sun on the tail. I didn't want it to be perfect, the idea is to create an effect that you just love or hate, no half measures :).

McDonnell-Douglas MD-80:

Koko airways was one of the ealiest customers of MDD updated DC-9 variant, ordering 20 MD-81 in 1979. The twinjet increased capacity on domestic routes and replaced the DC-9-30s, with deliveries protracting from 1980 to 1987. Nineteen were actually delivered, with the last airframe order converted to MD-87. Quite eventless, the MD-81 career was marked by their two-phase retirement: nine airframes where withdrawn between 1998 and 2000 as capacity was cut from feeder routes that served international flights. The other ten soilered on until 2006 when KOA started to sell them as a last effort to gain some cash and stop its lquidity problems. Six were still in service in July 2007 when Koko airways declared bankrupcy and stopped flying.

In addition to the MD-81s, KOA also ordered fifteen MD-87 for thinner routes, which became sixteen after the last MD-81 order was converted. The first plane started flying with KOA colours in 1988, with deliveries going on until 1995 -Koko Airways recieved the last MD-87 in MDD production line-. The aircrafts also partly replaced older DC-9-40s in the fleet. All sixteen served without being involved in accidents or mishaps and were still in service when the airline stopped flying in 2007. They went on to fly with Spanair and Iberia for two to five more years.

McDonnell-Douglas MD-11

Ordered in 1987 as the last act for CEO Mitsuharu Kudo before retiring, the new MDD long-range trijet would have helped to cement Koko Airways position on international routes. Kudo's vision was to erode Koutei's market on US bound flights by offering a domestic competitor were the flag carrier had always enyojed a monopoly. The new directive however had different ideas, thinking that doing the same on the southeast-asian market would have been more profitable. The idea was not totally wrong, but a few errors were made. First, al fourteen orders were not deferred and delivered as planned between 1991 and 1996 despite the early 90s downturn caused by the gulf war. With less revenues, this caused a bit of strain in the Airline cash flow, nothing apparently troublesome, that wuold have led yo much serious consequences later on. Second, US-bound routes were completely neglected -only Los Angeles was added, as late as 1996- while Singapore, Shanghai, Beijing, Taipei and Jakarta were added to the airline destinations. The Asian economic crisis of 1997 turned all those routes into istant-loss makers, so much that all but Shanghai had been axed by 1998. The severe losses suffered by KOA's finances could not be mitigated due to the lack of reserve cash suffered in the early 90s. The airline tride to return on the original path by having the MD-11s fly to the US, opening routes to Seattle, Chicago and New York. The move worked at first, so that singapore was added again to the trijet destinations in 2000. Things turnet worse aonce again after 9/11 however. Flights to NY were stopped in early 2002 and the MD-11 reurned to fly the Hoshiguma-Beijing route but -Koko Airways kept bleeding out. As the older DC-10s were retired, the MD-11s replaced them as route curs continued. Between 2004 and 2006 service to Seattle, Chicago, Beijing, Singapore, Shanghai and Los angeles was discontinued. The MD-11 ended up flying the former routes of their older siblings: Honolulu, San Francisco, Seoul, Hong kong, Tokyo and Osaka. The last Koko Airways flight operated the day of the shutdown -july 9th 2007- was an MD-11 from Osaka to Hoshiguma.
All fourteen were later converted to freighters and went on flying with UPS.

Kokunai KHS-80:

In 1991 Koko airways became the launch customer of the latest domestic-built turboprop regional aircraft: the Kokunai KHS-80. The airline ordered 20 with options for another 20 as a successor to its fleet of Namc YS-11. The first batch of seven was delivered between 1993 and 1996 and replaced the YS-11-100. deliveries of the second batch of 13 -which were to offset the planned retirement of the YS-11-200s- were to start no later than 1998, but they were deferred in late 1997 to adress the dire financial situation of the airline (and the YS-11-200 forced to prolong their already long service life). Ultimately, KOA canceled all its outstanding orders and options immediately after 9/11 as its cash further plummeted. A move that would have likely killed Kokunai had not been merged to form EAC lather the same month.
Koko Airways seven KHS-80 stayed with the airline until its bankrupcy, they ended flying with Air Philippines after that.

McDonnell-Douglas MD-90:

Koko Airways was one of the first customers of the Md-90, ordering fifteen of them in 1990. The aircrafts were to increase capacity on domestic routes and started to be delivered in late 1995. The type totale eleven in service by January 1998, the last four on order were never recieved since KOA canceled the remaining orders when Boeing bought McDonnell-douglas in 1997. The airline was initially contemplating wether to order the Airbus A320 or the Boeing 737-800, but the emerging financial troubles delayed this decision indefinitely. The Md-90s themselves did not ended up expanding domestic routes but offset the replacement of the DC-9-40s and older MD-81. After Koko airways ceased operations in 2007, its fleet of MD-90s was bought by Delta Airlines.

Boeing 777-200:

Last aircraft type orderd by Koko Airways, the twinjet 777 was orderd shortly after the merger between Boeing and McDonnell-Douglas. The triple-seven augmented and later replaced KOAs ageing fleet of DC-10-10s on domestic service, with nine aircrafts in service by the first half of 2000. The ninth airframe in particular was noteworthy on its own for two reasons: it was the first aircraft to recieve Koko Airways new eurowhite livery, and it was also the last aircraft to be delivered to the airline before its bankrupcy. When Koko Airways ceased operations on july 9th 2007, the 777 was the only aircraft in the fleet that averaged less than 10 years of service and the only widebody type on domestic service. All nine ended up flying with United Airlines.

Very impressive work! This look like a solid fleet of aircrafts, but my only thing is that the "Koko Airways" title will probably look better if it's below the window instead of above it on KHS-80s.
