So drawing my entry for the DD challenge catapulted me into a naval era I seldom touch and that I know very little of, but the material I had to read to make heads out of tails of all of this caught my interest hard, and after finishing the Poplar-class I quickly started crunching numbers and sketching layouts for a proper Air Defence "Destroyer", the results of which you see here. Fluff is that this design is the second ship created from the ground up to be an AA escort for carriers and that it had to be cheaper to other County-like devices that seem to exist in every naval universe ever, and its built around a 2nd gen ramjet SAM and its launch and fire control system, which is very much like a more advanced Seaslug outfit. Terminal guidance for this pocket telephone pole comes in active and passive/home on signal versions, interception range was hoped to be over 100 nm. Lack of helicopter is entirely justified by them being provided by whatever aviation ship is being escorted. I'm posting these in hopes that you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed making them, and please do leave feedback and criticism if you can be bothered. Hopefully my studying will provide ideas on how to refit them later on, but it really is untreaded ground for me. |

From artistic point of view, amazing job. From technical that is not my the best know field... well, too much weapon systems? |

It's very, very nicely drawn. If I were doing the arrangements, I would probably relocate the guns to A and Y, the rocket-thrown torpedo to B, and the SAM to X. Historically, guns take heavy weather better than missiles, and box launchers tend to be more robust than power-loaded launchers. Missiles are also volume-critical, and the X location would offer the maximum volume for a below-decks magazine. In addition, the gun blast effects on the rocket and missile launchers would be minimized. Not coincidentally, the resulting arrangement would be a lot more like a Farragut-class DLG. I do wonder how practical it would be to store multiple types of SAM within a magazine that holds only 20 missiles. |

May I ask if this class of fleet escort are designed to be flagships of a group of your smaller Poplar class escorts? Or you have in mind another kind of actions for your Kaska class? Cheers! |

My hopes and dreams have been shattered I'm gonna miss that dumb deckhouse reytuerto, Fleet Escorts operate on different formations from Oceanic Escorts, the latter being mostly convoy herders and the former are carrier companions. I have many carrier classes planned of course, but I should really get back to the 1930-1936 timeframe! |

Gorgeous. All the custom electronics and weapons make it even more awesome. |

Beautiful. As with the recent stuff you've drawn these are really at the limit of what our scale/style can show. |

These are nice looking ships and well drawn, packed with neat details and the hull design looks good too, quite Japanese in concept and the whaleback forecastle is a neat idea too. The superstructure has some nice curving details too. |

Fabulous I, too, like the weirdness of the whaleback. |
