Krakatoa's HMS Isis - Alternate I class destroyer, made me think what would be my ideal (just) pre WW2 destroyer.

I think I would go with the following,

Cheap with a bit more than historical bias towards AA fire.

The front end is good, but I would have stuck with the traditional layout aft and also used the L4 layout for the two sets of twin 4" aft if you are doing a J. (It was on my list of things to do for an alternative I with 6x4")

I wanted,
- better arcs for the quad 2pdr,
- easy ability to swap some of the TTs for more ASW kit (especially forward throwing types)
- gangway to give the ability to walk to the rear action (and from stern to bow) stations in bad weather.

I'm sure there was a plan like this with tubes aft but it was abandoned due to vibration aft. Might have been a post-war fixed tube design though...
