So as a personal challenge I looked at a way for large warship, similar to a Kirov to find a place in a navy today. I decided the ship would be a large strike warship with large missile bays, 155mm guns (or higher), large-ish helicopter facilities, nuclear power, and a high speed able to keep up with a carrier task force. I decided, due to personal bias and the "because its cool" factor that the ship would be a part of the Royal Navy and the ship takes heavy influence for the systems from the Daring class destroyer and size and look from the Kirov class. I'm not sure about many of the logistics or measurements for the ship, so once I post it input on that would be greatly appreciated. I am also thinking of looking into deciding a new large caliber gun for the ship to fire heavy long range rounds.

As of now the armament is:
4*64 Sylver VLS cells
-256 Scalp Naval Cruise Missiles, Aster 30, and Aster 15 missiles
2*8 RAM (quadpacked for 64 missiles)
2 BAE 155mm guns in a twin stealth mount (able to be replaced by a larger caliber weapon)
6 NSM Missile Boxes (24 missiles total)
3 30mm Phalanx guns
2 20mm Cannon (not sure what type it is)
Space for 2 Oto Melara 76mm guns

Space for 2 helicopters in hangar (Up to Osprey sized helicopter)

Any input would be great! I know the idea is far fetched, especially considering Britain's economic and political climate, but on a completely hypothetical basis, lets just assume Parliament is fine and dandy with sinking billions into the navy.

Sound interesting, although I'm not one who tests the likeliness of designs. I would like to see this drawn, no matter who by. (Well, not a six year old. :)

I'm just looking into getting some last minute input before I post it

just post your drawing ;) from just the weapon specs this could be anything from an arsenal ship to an missile cruiser, all depending on the radars, setup, powerplant and hull shape. so I refrain from giving any comments before I have an idea what this would turn out to be.

Its been awhile since I've last posted so I'm not 100% sure it'll come out right. If not I'll have the link and I may need to be walked through.

I've figured due to the large, fast, lightly armored (how many ships really have anymore tho), and heavily armed build that the ship could be either a strike cruiser, battlecruiser, or large cruiser.

Awesome it worked! So technical things I'm not sure about are radar placement and air intakes, I'm not sure if I have enough the blocky thing in front of the 155 is a raised portion for a 76mm gun, when used. Other then that, have at it!

Well my thoughts (all just IMO) are that its very nice ship,

I might change the following,

1- 155 gun I would put it out front (its not going to be any more fragile than missiles and out front gives it better arcs).
2- I would not bother with 3inch as you have 6inch (especially if you have 2 ? 155mm) and 30 (x2 side)/20mm (x3 phalanx) can cover anything you need.
3 - would it be better to move the rear phalanx backwards to get better arcs ? and maybe add one phalanx on top of the bridge for 4 with at least 2 on each bearing ?
4 - I might link the rib bays with the hangar (so you can swap stuff as needed for different missions) as one large storage space.

I'm sure people more knowledgeable than me will say more.
