Is it just me or does it look like you started to put in plating lines on the underwater hull, but then stopped after 30m working back from the bow? Or are those lines something else?
she doesn't have hull plating all the way, just around important area and magazines. she have also box around machinery and magazine. something making here and hard opponent to deal with.

in the period between 1942 and up to 1945 the class received new radars, and got here main gun director improved.
- here 12.7 armament was reduced from 24 twin to 8 twin's.
- her 40 mm armament was increased from 4 quad to 6 quad.
- The boilers was redesigned to go on oil instead of coal. but HHMS Overflowed didn't receive the boiler redesign and was using coal in to 1946 when she was scrapped.
- the class received two Chance-Vought OS2U Kingfisher, they was stored in an canvas tent on deck.
- they received and new compact aircraft and boat handling crane.
- The class 130 mm mod 4 Mk13 DP gun was redesigned to mod 6.
- The class received and slightly redesigned bridge that extended out on the bridge wing.

No no, I meant the four or five horizontal line starting at the bow and going backwards.

and then the final version of Q5 class, as they appeared in the 20's:

1945:

Now I need to make the B-side with the information about this ships:

[ img ]

--------------------
for the 20's version of the ship:

Length: 203 meter
beam: 29,3 meter
displacement: 35000 tons
Propulsion: 24 Hancock boilers, 4 Bursker turbines. 83000 shp.
speed: 24.8 knots
Range: 9100 nm
crew: 1123
Aircraft: non

Armament:
4 twin 15.5" main guns
18 X 6" casement guns
10 X 4" guns
3 X 3" guns (later removed)

Electronics:
Range finders
Mk-1 Eye ball
2 large search light
several movable small search lights

Comments:

designed in the 20's as an replacement for the Q4 and Zarah class's of dreadnought. build in late 20's. was the backbone of Haram's main fleets, it shared some design characteristic with British battleships, just on an larger hull for an improved armament and armor. Haram ordered 12 of them, but build only 6 of them since a new Battleship design come about. these 6 battleships. was often overseas to show Haram naval power. they also often patrolled Haram colonies.

------------------

-------------------
for the 1942 version of the ship:

Length: 203.6 meter
beam: 29,3 meter
displacement: 38000 tons
Propulsion: 24 Hancock boilers, 4 Bursker turbines. 83000 shp.
speed: 23 knots
Range: 8700 nm
crew: 1200
Aircraft: non

Armament:
4 twin 15.5" main guns
8 twin 5" DP guns
8 twin later quad 40 mm AA guns
22 single and twin 12.7 mm machine-guns

Electronics:
British radars, rangefinders and directors.
5" guns have director build in to turret

Comments:

in early 40's Haram was in need of big gun ship to support it's troops in Pacific but also in the Atlantic. 4 of the Q5 class Battleship was taken out of mothball fleet and rebuild and redesigned.
main guns was improved. new British directors and radars was added. bow was changed and displacement was increased due to change to an large but heavier DP guns, new superstructure and improved desk and belt armor including structural strengthening of interior of the ship. giving the ship ability to withstand bigger naval guns that was around at the time. they was also camoet in Haram Northern fleet camo type 5. HHMS overflow was lost in battle after several direct hit by IJN Yamato main guns, when it was covering allied ships.
----------

-------------------
for the 1945 version of the ship:

Length: 203.6 meter
beam: 29,3 meter
displacement: 39000 tons
Propulsion: 24 Hancock boilers, 4 Bursker turbines. 83000 shp.
speed: 21 knots
Range: 8100 nm
crew: 1300
Aircraft: 2

Armament:
4 twin 15.5" main guns
8 twin 5" DP guns
8 twin later quad 40 mm AA guns
22 single and twin 12.7 mm machine-guns

Electronics:
improved British radars, rangefinders and directors.
5" guns have director build in to turret

Comments:

in 45 HHMS Excess as the only ship received still in service in 45 received new main gun barrel, improved gun directors and radars. but it also received an aircraft. the Bridge was also rebuild after an fire. that now gave it an protected bridge wings. she served a couple years in to the cold war era, where her main harbor was become Hamburg in Germany, where here mission was to act as an long range artillery guns if the Soviet was going to do it. but she was later transferred to US command in Korea where she served her last years until the day she had an massive accident in Engineering, detonation several boilers. with the one of ht e Iowas as the only close big ships around was put in tow behind them. even with damaged boilers, her new diesel generators was working and she could still firing her main guns. so under tow by one of the Iowas she was still firing on North Korean position!
-----------------

comments appreciated: any story change for the B-side is always helpful, if you have an idea how the story can be written in to today's History... (note in Haram the world is bigger, so ships that was an never build design... well some of them might have been build, other ships there would be more of)

Very nice, Henrik, but where exactly, in your 1942-edition, is the aft funnel trunked into the forward? I just don't see any trunk and the base, and I don't think you can so radically bend steam pipes, exhaust lines etc to completely conceal it.

yeah you are on something. but what I did is that the trunked funnel is in fact between the two funnels. or to say it the other way, I drawed the other funnel next to the feet of the trunked funnel.

but I see the problem you are talking about, that the out-most boilers might have problems with the funnel. but then there are many other ships with the same problem. what I can do is to make an steam gate that's go above the deck to the trunked funnel.
