Excellent work illustrating these very little-known designs.
Its nice to see some 1920s large-gun designs. These seem an odd mix of modern (diesel-power) and old styles and remind me very much of early 1900s CDS/Monitor types.

Design IV/30
Another design with 305mm main artillery, this one had the layout that would later be found on the British Nelson-class battleships. Presumable, the German design did this for the same reason, to save weight on armor. Secondary armament was increased with the addition of two 150mm twin turrets.

-speed: 21kn (24000HP, three shafts)
-armor: belt 180mm

-3x2x305mm main artillery
-2x2x150mm secondary artillery

The IV/30 is certainly a unique design! Certainly packs a punch on a small hull.

Design V/30
This design moved from twin to triple turrets for the main artillery, arranged in one turret fore and aft. Secondaries were increased by one additional twin turret, while flak moved to the tried-and-trusted, albeit old 88mm single emplacement. Performance-wise, this design was identical to the previous ones.

Where was the diesel exhaust on the 1925 ships?
I thought it might have been the foremast but that seems too far forward.

Thanks for all the kind words, much appreciated.
They don't seem to have one. My guess is that either they were so early in the design phase that it would be added later or they had no clue what kind of funnel those diesel engines would require. I think one of the features of early diesel ships was that they had no funnel (see MS Selandia), so maybe the designer thought they didn't need one.
