Thanks for the clarification. Fixed. What else?

Changing the black lines to gray to show that some surfaces are angled, and not 90 degrees. You might also do some work on the stern, make it look rounder.

This makes an interesting comparison with the Japanese battleship studies BB1987 drew last year.

Karle: Fixed it, hows it look now? Did I get the right grey lines? You were right about the stern, I thought it looked fine, then I went back and looked at it again and it just didn't look American. Good call.

It sure does Hood. I always thought the South Dakotas just didn't compare to the next generation Japanese and British ships that were cancelled, but when I started drawing this one I got the feeling I was filling in a missing link. She is thoroughly American 1920's in design, but the top view of the hull more closely resembles the Iowas than the Lexingtons. I think this would have been a fair competitor for the other ships cancelled by the WNT.

A fine work Syzmo.
My only two comments are these: Firstly make the shading on the stern lighter, as IMHO it looks too contrasting. Secondly the shading on the aft turrets needs to be reversed, as now it looks like the light is coming from astern on the aft turrets, and from the front on the fore turrets.
Apart from that, it is a classic design and well executed

Hmm. I meant to do that, but must have forgot, done now.

There are two black lines near the fore and aft 6 inch guns.

Do you mean the ones that represent the back of the casemate?

Yes. Should there be black lines there?

You tell me, you've drawn more US BBs of this period and more ships with casemate guns than me. I didn't because the top view in CanisD's drawing makes it look like the casemates project pretty far and at a pronounced angle. What do you think?
