Since everyone was going nuts posting silly AU super battleships, here's a real one: This is Iowa as she would have appeared in 1943, prior to the repaint into Measure 32a/2b (whose design I can't find ANYWHERE). Note the exposed conning tower; the fancy enclosed bridge was a late-war addition to this class. This drawing was done from the ground up. I considered reworking Paul451's New Jersey, but since the 1980 rebuilds were so radical I just decided against it. Even the turrets were redrawn. I used paul's screws and his anchor. Note the absence of the iconic 20mm gallery at the bow, the 20mm gallery in place of the usual 40mm mount on turret No.2 (so as not to obscure the view from the conning tower's lower levels), and the sparse conn itself. Definitely the most warlike of the Iowa evolutions. ------- Iowa at Kwajalein, January 1944. Note the feathered bull black scheme, a camouflage pattern designed for the Atlantic. According to several sources it was worn by escort carriers with Iowa being the only ship to use it in the Pacific. |

IIRC Iowa have a larger conning tower than the other three ship. The ship just look magnificent and I think Iowa Class without the gallery looks better IMO. |

Very Nice and well done indeed . Just a question is this when she was 1st commissioned before they increased her complement of Quad 40mm AA Gun mounts including having 1 fitted right at the front of the ships bow bulwark? |

Yep I was right, 2012 is indeed the year of the Capital Ship. Do I need to say this is a great improvement and another fine piece of work? I just did! |

Arguably, the best Battleship ever launched; and a top drawing I learn something new every day, three shafts, that is interesting. |

Great work! Its kind of a shock that this hadn't been drawn earlier in Shipbucket's life. |
