A handsome ship, sabotage181 . If only the United States Navy could afford to build 19 of them to replace the Ticonderoga -class guided-missile cruiser as originally planned for CG(X). Much nicer than the BMD ship based on the San Antonio -class LPD. I presume that this design will be dubbed Virgini...

According to ex-Secretary of the Navy John Lehman, the BMD ship is tied to a specific region and cannot be deployed with a Carrier Strike Group (CSG).

Does the powerplant of the LPD 17 need to be upgraded to increase the speed from 22 knots to 30 knots in the BMD concept so that it can be part of a Carrier Strike Group (CSG)?

Did the Bureau of Ships expect a new hull classification for the Mission Essential Unit (MEU)/CG VSTOL since the concept painting starts with 1? What might be the new hull classification? Or if it had been build would it have been added to the cruisers list as CGH xx?

The CVV was intended to operate V/STOL aircraft. How about some additional V/SOL aircraft in the ship drawing? What about the Convair 200 V/STOL fighter? http://steeljawscribe.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/image/convair_200_1.jpg Rockwell XFV-12? http://steeljawscribe.com/wordpress/wp-content/upl...

It is known by so...
